We are Karl and Brittany and we are so thankful for you!

We hope that the pictures and words in this book help you learn more about us and what our lives look like. We are so excited to be growing our family again through adoption; we would be truly honored and forever grateful if that dream involves you! Please know that you are in our prayers and that we support you, regardless of the decision you make. We hope this book helps you in your journey and we would love to meet you!

Relationship/Journey

We met in 2015 when Karl moved to Baton Rouge from north Louisiana. He was previously working as a youth pastor, but finished his college degree and moved to Baton Rouge for his new job. He started attending a local church where a few of his friends led worship. It just so happened that Brittany started attending that church about a year before Karl moved to Baton Rouge. We met in the fall of 2015 and were friends but didn't start to really get to know each other until May 2016. After a few fun events and long get-to-know-you conversations, it was clear to us that this was something special. We officially started dating in June. Karl knew Brittany was finishing up NP school and decided to wait until she finished her final exams to propose in January 2017. We were married in July 2017! It was a short dating relationship but when you know, you know! Our early years of marriage were filled with weekend getaways and hosting family and friends for meals. Some of our favorite trips have been to Jamaica, New York, California, and Fairhope. While growing our family has not been as easy as we hoped, we believe God's perfect timing led us to the birth of our son; his birth mother chose us to love him forever and our lives have been so much sweeter since that day in 2022. We are ready to become a family of four and complete our family!

Why Adoption?

Adoption has always been part of our family’s story. Brittany’s mom was adopted and growing our family through adoption was something we talked about before getting married. While we thought we would adopt after having one or two biological children, the Lord had other plans; through our infertility journey, God made it clear to us that adoption was his perfect plan for growing our family. We experienced the incredible gift of adopting our son in 2022 and have a sweet relationship with his birth mother. It will never be lost on us what an incredible blessing adoption has been!

Home

We live in a family oriented neighborhood with big yards and lots of trees. All of the trees encourage wildlife and there are always birds and squirrels in the yard. We live just three streets over from Mimi and Pawpaw so walks to their house happen often! Our house has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with tons of yard to run and play in! We moved to this house in Baton Rouge from Central in April 2023. There is a neighborhood pool at the end of our street and we are a fun bike ride away from a community park.

Travel

Traveling has been a fun hobby of ours but we have traveled less after becoming parents. Some of our favorite places to travel are beaches, cities for concerts, and new places we've never been.

Hobbies

We love slow days around the house, playing in the back yard or taking a bike ride around the block. We also love days filled with LSU ball games, zoo trips, pool days, and play dates with friends, We have dance parties to silly songs and we all love music! Karl is always playing music on the guitar or piano, and Brittany loves to cook and read.

School & Work

Karl is a videographer and TV news show producer and has been in that role for over 8 years. Brittany is a nurse practitioner and has been working as an NP for over 7 years. She has been in the nursing field for 12 years.

Karl's Extended Family

Hey there. It's Karl. I grew up in a close knit community in northeast Louisiana. I have one brother and two sisters and my parents have been married for 40 years. My parents have always taught the importance of hard work, a lesson I learned growing up around my family's farm. My dad is the farmer and my mom is a registered nurse.

Brittany's Extended Family

Hi! It's me- Brittany. I am from Baton Rouge. I am the middle child and have an older brother and younger sister. My sister has been my best friend my entire life! My parents also grew up in Baton Rouge and have been married for 35 years. I am an aunt to two nieces and one nephew and they were my first little loves; although mom is my favorite title :) Family is a huge part of my world and I will always keep family at the center of it. I knew from a young age that starting a family of my own and being a mother would be my greatest life work, and I am so excited to continue on that journey,

Family Traditions & Holidays

As a family, we have fun traditions that bring us together all year long. We have weekly Thursday night dinners at Brittany's grandmother's house, but also have special traditions around holidays. Each Christmas, we all show up in our special "Christmas jammies." We also dress up and have a fun party at our house for Halloween. Lastly, we take a big family vacation each year; sometimes to the beach, or Disney World, or to a pretty camping site. Weeks together are our favorite!
