We admire you so much for choosing life and for considering adoption.

Adoption has always been a part of Allie’s side of the family {as her mom placed a baby for adoption prior to meeting and marrying Allie’s dad}. Jimmy has always had it on his heart to help others through fostering and adopting, and we just weren’t quite sure when/if/how we would pursue it. However, in the beginning of 2021, we were cautioned by Allie’s doctor that having biological children may not be in her best interest. After this unexpected news, we knew for sure that the tug on our hearts that we had been experiencing for the past year or so was God calling us to grow or family through adoption. It just took us a while to realize it. The sacrifice you are making is not lost on us and never will be. We admire you so much for choosing life and for considering adoption. Know that we are praying for you and your sweet baby throughout your pregnancy and that God will fill you with peace in your decision.

We met at LSU as freshmen living in the Engineering Residential College. We became really good friends and then started dating about a year later. During our time at LSU, we enjoyed going to LSU football games, baseball games, and gymnastics meets. And while we spent lots of time studying, we also had plenty of time to hang out with our friends. After graduation, Jimmy got a job here in Louisiana, and Allie moved to Texas for graduate school. While it wasn’t exactly fun to be long distance for 2.5 years, it proved to us that we can do hard things as a couple and allowed each of us to grow as individuals as well. Allie moved back to Louisiana a month before our wedding, and we have been here since! We have been together for 8.5 years!

We live in a quiet, family-friendly neighborhood that has 2 big lakes great for fishing and canoeing. There is also a large green space/park area with so much space for kids to run, play, and feed the ducks. Our house is on one of the lakes, and we enjoy taking the canoe out into the middle of the lake to take in the picture-perfect sunset. Our neighborhood is very active. We walk our dog every morning and evening and see so many other families taking walks, riding bikes, or going for runs.

Growing up, neither of us had the opportunity to travel a lot since we were both involved in so many extra-curricular activities. However, since we have been together, we have been blessed with the ability to travel and experience so many new places. Together we have visited Disney World, Pensacola Beach, Gulf Shores, multiple cities in Texas, Colorado, Georgia, Tennessee, California, Hawaii, Vancouver, and Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. We love to travel to places that have plenty of opportunities to hike and be outside, and with Jimmy being such a huge sports fan, we try to attend various sporting events and visit new sports venues along the way.

We love to play sports, be outside, try new restaurants, spend time with friends and family, and travel! In terms of sports, we both play sand volleyball, and Jimmy plays kickball and football as well. When we aren’t at a game, we love to hang out outside on our patio, go on walks, and go to the dog park with our sweet Manning. On the weekends, we like to try new restaurants and play board games with our family and friends. We are also very close to Allie’s little cousins, and Jimmy actually coached one of their soccer teams for a few years!

We have a 5 year old lab-mix named Manning. We rescued him as a puppy right before Allie moved to Texas. Manning lived with her while she was away, and it was the best day ever when we all got to live under one roof when she moved back. He is the sweetest, most loving, and gentle dog you will meet, and he absolutely LOVES kids. He loves to go to the dog park, take walks, go swimming, and eat! Fun Fact: Manning worked hard in school too, and he is now a Certified Canine Good Citizen.

School & Work

We both attended LSU for our undergraduate degrees where Jimmy graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering and Allie graduated with a BS in Biological Engineering. Allie also received her Master of Engineering from Texas A&M in Biomedical Engineering. Jimmy works in a chemical plant as a Process Engineer and has been there for about 5 years. Allie works as an Assistive Technology Professional designing custom wheelchairs and has been in this industry for about 2.5 years. Fun fact: Allie’s nephew is one of her clients which is so special to her! Prior to that, she worked as Product Development Engineer at a small start-up company in Texas before moving back to Louisiana.

Our Extended Family

We have a pretty big extended family which we are so grateful for. Most of Allie’s family lives in or around Baton Rouge, and most of Jimmy’s family lives in or around Lake Charles. Of course, we also like to consider our friends in our extended family as well. The support we have from our family and friends is amazing, and they are all so excited to welcome a new addition to the family!

Family Traditions & Holidays

We love to celebrate holidays in our family because it means spending time with family and friends. It works out that Jimmy’s favorite holiday is Thanksgiving, so we always spend that day with his family. Allie’s favorite holiday is Christmas, so we spend that day with her family. We also love to have a celebration for Easter. We usually have a crawfish boil or grill hamburgers and then dye Easter eggs and have an egg hunt. Allie loves to create new traditions within our little family and loves to make holidays special. We decorate the house for each holiday and try to come up with fun things to do that we hope to share with our sweet baby one day.
