Adoption has touched our hearts as a family and we are grateful for an opportunity to adopt a child of our own.
We are excited to get to know you and hope you learn a little bit about our family, too. We are thankful for the opportunity to share our hearts with you and learn more about who you are. Please know we are looking forward to getting to know you and developing a friendship with you, if that is what you desire. Adoption has touched our hearts and we have always hoped to be able to adopt. Our niece and nephew are adopted and our family has so lovingly embraced how special adoption is. Our goal as parents is to show love unconditionally, create a loving safe space, protect, guide gently, share the love of Christ, create meaningful and memorable experiences, and support them in whatever they choose to do in life. And most importantly we love to laugh, play games, enjoy life, go on adventures and simply just have fun!
We met at church when we were in high school and became good friends. I asked Dustin to go to prom with me in 2002, this was our first date. We were drawn to each other greatly though our faith in Christ. We knew that by having faith in Christ and putting God first, we could walk together in marriage with a love that was greater than ourselves. On August 23, 2005 Dustin proposed in one of the most random places. I knew he had a ring and he wanted to surprise me. He proposed down the camouflage aisle of Academy! Romantic, I know! I was surprised alright! We were engaged for about a year and married on June 10, 2006. I had some fertility issues before having both of our daughters. We were so thankful to be blessed with one daughter in 2010 and then her little sister in 2013. We have always desired to adopt and we feel that this is the right time for our family to add a new little member to our home.
We were able to build a home we dreamt of a few years ago. Dustin is a contractor and built our home himself. Dustin’s parents were previously dairy farmers, so we live on acres sprawling old dairy farm land. We have tons of room for our kiddos to run, play, and explore. Our girls love playing outside, riding their bikes, playing on their swing set or trampoline.
We love to travel! We love to visit new and old places. We enjoy playing in the creeks of Tennessee, hiking trails up mountains, playing in the white sandy beaches, going camping with friends, or to Disney World. We enjoy the magic of Disney World and never get tired of the giggles and smile our girls have when encountering their favorite character or riding their favorite ride. Dustin says he loves roller coasters, but let’s be honest, he most enjoys a Mickey Ice Cream bar! He never says no to the girls when they ask for ice cream! (okay maybe sometimes) More than where we are traveling to, we most enjoy the time and family experience of being together. We are always up for an adventure!
Dustin enjoys hunting and fishing. He enjoys being outdoors. Jordan enjoys crafting, fishing, and baking. Together we love to travel, adventure, and making new family memories together. We enjoy fishing, outdoor activities, and enjoying time with our friends and family. We just started visiting campgrounds with our family and friends and we are loving it! Nothing is better than a s’more!
We have a new little puppy in our home. Our new puppy’s name is Peaches. She is the sweetest dog! She very silly and snuggly! She is Shih Tzu and poodle mix.
School & Work
We both have degrees in different areas. Dustin has a degree in Biology as well as an Associate’s Degree in Biblical Teaching. He has his contractor’s license as well. Dustin is a contractor and builds houses. He is also a youth pastor for our local church. He has built homes for the past 17 years as well as been on staff for the same amount of time. Jordan has a degree in Elementary Education and has been a teacher for 15 years. She most recently graduated with her Master’s in Early Childhood education and teaches kindergarten and first grade special education. Jordan teaches at a Pre-K-12th grade school so she has the unique opportunity to go with our two girls to school each day.
Our Extended Family
We live next door to Dustin’s sister and his parents and we live about ten minutes away from my brother and my parents. Living so close to one another is a blessing. Our children always have a blast riding their bikes to Maw Maw’s house. We are usually stopping by my parents’ house during the week after ballet classes. It is a blessing to be surrounded by so many loved ones. We also enjoy getting together for BBQs and campfires!
Family Traditions & Holidays
During the holidays, we enjoy going to the pumpkin patch in the fall, but Christmas is our favorite. Our girls love dressing in their pajamas and going on a Christmas light scavenger hunt in the car! It is the best! We enjoy decorating the house, inviting friends over to our annual cookie decorating party, and spending time with family as we give gifts to one another. Birthdays are also special around our home. Whoever is celebrating a birthday wakes up to decorations celebrating them all around our house! The girls look forward to birthday pancakes and of course a party with family and friends!
